Summary

The Cantonal School of Graubünden is the largest high school in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. It is located in the mountains of Chur, Switzerland next to the Theological College there. The school has a large sport hall and a smaller one that is used daily and most weekends. The total surface area cleaned per week is 17’500 to 26’000 m2.

Diversey is known internationally for its professional cleaning systems. The autonomous TASKI swingobot 2000 scrubber-drier initial tests have shown the scrubber-drier's success in facilities like The Cantonal School of Graubünden that house sport and multi-purpose halls, school buildings and all its connecting corridors.

Challenge

Often, staff does not have much time for detailed cleaning. For use-intensive spaces such as sports or multi-purpose halls the best time for cleaning is accomplished late in the evening or in the early morning hours. The Cantonal School sport hall is a high-frequency facility. It is open for classes during the day, and floor ball and soccer clubs in the evenings and weekends. Due to this type of heavy use, together with all other tasks to maintain the buildings, not enough time was being dedicated to clean at the highest standards. Also, hygiene demands are very important in a public area, and for safety, good grip levels on the sport hall floor are essential. The work-life-balance of many employees became a serious concern due to all the late nights and weekend shifts required to clean the facility.

Solution

The TASKI swingobot 2000 robot was deployed on November 24, 2017 to clean the gymnasium more quickly and effectively and now in use every day. "We looked at what was available in the market to help us with our work, and then decided on the TASKI robot," says school Janitor and Facility Manager, Nico Jäger. "Its easy to use, thanks to a large touchscreen and easy-to-understand symbols. The machine has been a huge help on our premises, allowing us to clean more quickly and effectively. The robot’s size, stability, water capacity, running time and the effective area cleaned have impressed us. The integration into the gymnasium’s cleaning plan was completely seamless."

Results

Nico Jäger and The Cantonal School of Graubünden are very satisfied with the TASKI swingobot 2000 performance: "It cleans on its own, improves floor hygiene and maintenance is very straightforward. The collaboration with Diversey was excellent. We were able to first test the robot, and any faults that occurred we fixed together. I was very happy with the work Diversey did. I would definitely recommend this robot to my colleagues, since it improves hygiene and relieves employees of a lot of extra work. It cleans really well and the TASKI swingobot 2000 been an excellent discovery."
